Ok so I have had a few weeks to use the deodorant and do some more research. Results were both great and disappointing. The great results were experience by both my husband and myself. Better than any antiperspirant or deodorant that myself or husband have used at keeping all the smell away. The disappointing part was the burning sensation of the Orange Essential Oil only happened after shaving, but the red bumpy armpits did not stop. My husband experience burning, itching, and redness and stopped using it.
I did some research and it turns out that this type of deodorant is great for 75% of people out there. Works wonders and has no rash. However, 25% of us have sensitive pits that don’t react well to the ph imbalance caused by such high baking soda.
I then did the worst thing and shaved. The redness that caused the bumps became cut and THEN the deodorant REALLY Stung…
Found out a couple things from this experience. If you are shaving do not put on diy deodorant for 30-60 minutes afterward. Its not friendly to irritated skin.
Apparently you can restore the ph balance of the underarms by spraying a solution of 1 Cup distilled water + 1 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar mixed together. Mist, or dab onto pits and let dry completely before putting on DIY Deodorant. As I am so messed up as is, I am going to apply twice a day to fix it and lay off the diy stuff, and once they are healed try this stuff under my diy again. If THAT does not work, I will move onto DIY Deodorant Type #2.Posted in bath products, beauty, deodorant, diy
