So I have embarked on a bit of a journey on DIY Home Made Natural Beauty Kick. I have started with deodorant. I am not a woman that normally wears deodorant. I normally wear Antiperspirant but find that after a few hours I not only am sweating but I also have a slight odor come end of the day. Unpleasant I know. So I am trying out some DIY deodorants, thus far the results are good. I am sweating but not smelling.
You Will Need
1/2 C Coconut Oil
1/4 C Arrowroot Powder
1/4 C Baking Soda
1/4 C Corn Starch
8 Drops of Essential Oil (or a scent of your choice I used orange)
I like to warm my coconut oil ever so slightly and then mix it all together well with a spatula until its smooth and creamy and put it in a small jar. I like glass. and pick up this small swing top.
|Coconut Oil. I was surprised too that something that is Oil comes as a solid but alas it does. It melts at body temperature.|
To use warm some in your hands and rub into under arms. I use about 1 tsp at most, thought generally I probably only need half that amount or so. There are lots of medicinal properties to a lot of different essential oils, but i wanted one that I already had on hand and could stand the smell of, hence the orange. I have to be honest first day I put it on it stung like an SOB. I think that is the orange oil talking. I HAD just shaved which is probably why. So I played it out used it for a bit more but my underarms got redder. So I remade it without the orange oil. Tea Tree Oil and Lavender Oil both have healing properties for the skin and are probably better choices.
Long term results will be reported next week. I am hoping that this will also resolve some of the blemishes I have in my underarms. I am contemplating whether you want before and afters on that though.Posted in beauty, deodorant, diy
